In addition to acquiring high rankings for keyword phrases targeting
Indiana businesses, two goals for this optimization project were to
create written contents that establish the company as an industry expert
and to incorporate a keyword-phrase-laden quarterly e-newsletter that
was already in distribution but that was previously not available on the
web site for non-subscribers.
One important change to the site was to further develop the Home
page, which previously contained just a single large photograph, to
immediately and succinctly present the full scope of the company, along
with an expanded and more direct navigation structure that quickly leads
visitors to the specific information they desire.
Results: The optimization of the site began having a noticeable impact
within a few weeks of being posted online. Traffic from the search engines began
steadily flowing and inquiries soon followed. Key indicators of having achieved
the project goals are a significant amount of traffic from the search engines
when none existed before, greatly improved site-stickiness (time spent viewing
the site), and contacts from prospects who would have not known the company
existed existed had they not discovered it through high rankings on a major
search engine.
